Pascasarjana UIN Sunan Kalijaga Opens Research Fellowship at the Austrian Academy of Sciences

Yogyakarta — Pascasarjana Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga is pleased to announce a Call for Applications for a 3-Month Research Fellowship at the Institute for Social Anthropology (ISA), Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), Austria. This program is specifically open to active PhD students of the Islamic Studies Doctoral Program (S3) at the Pascasarjana UIN Sunan Kalijaga.

This research fellowship is designed for PhD students in Islamic Studies who are currently conducting doctoral research with a focus on Anthropology of Islam. The program aims to enhance the quality of doctoral dissertation research, expand international academic networks, and strengthen scholarly publications at the global level.

As part of the fellowship, each selected participant will receive a research grant of EUR 4,000.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Active PhD students in the Islamic Studies Doctoral Program (S3) at the Pascasarjana UIN Sunan Kalijaga
  • Excellent Proficiency in English
  • PhD project in the field of the antrophology of Islam

Application Requirements

Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Research abstract
  • Draft paper

Selection Timeline

The selection process will follow the schedule below:

  • Submission deadline: 17 February 2026
  • Shortlisting: 18–20 February 2026
  • Interviews: 23–26 February 2026
  • Program commencement: 1 April 2026
